Your to-do list
Not everything you need to remember is a Task. Plenty of it is real work, “phone the supplier back, review that PR, write up the change”, it just doesn’t need an assignee, a deadline, or a paper trail. Your to-do list is where that goes: a plain checklist, one line each, tick it off when it’s done.
- Where: add the To-do widget to your dashboard (hit the edit button, then Add widget), and use the Open list link on it for the full-page view.
- Who: everyone. Managers, supervisors, and employees can all use one.
- Turning it on: it’s an optional dashboard widget, not a module. Add it when you want it, move it wherever you like, remove it any time.
NoteYour to-do list is completely private. Nobody else can see it, not your manager, not your team, nobody. Items are never shared, never assigned to anyone, and never show up in anyone else’s view.
- Add: type in the box and press Enter (or click Add). The box clears itself so you can rattle off a few in a row.
- Check off: click the circle to the left of an item. Done items drop to the bottom with a line through them.
- Remove: hover an item and click the ✕ on the right.
- Tidy up: Clear done wipes the finished items in one go.
That’s the whole thing, on purpose. There are no due dates, no reminders, no reference numbers.
They look similar but they’re for different jobs:
| To-do | Tasks | |
|---|---|---|
| For | Quick things, just for you | Work you assign or track over time |
| Who sees it | Only you | The assignee, assigner, and managers |
| Carries | A title and a checkbox | Assignee, due date, check-in notes, a reference number |
| Lasts | Until you clear it | A permanent record |
Rule of thumb: if it’s just for you and you’ll deal with it soon, it’s a to-do. If someone needs to own it, it has a deadline, or you’ll want a record of how it went, make it a Task.
