Birthday celebrations
When it’s someone’s birthday, your dashboard greets the day with a confetti animation and a small banner naming them. It fires once a day, not on every page load: a one-second moment of acknowledgement before you get on with things.
Whose birthdays count:
- Employees, from the date of birth on their profile.
- Contacts with a birthday on file, for managers and supervisors (the people who’d send the card). The banner shows their organization so it’s clear they’re an outside person.
- Family members and close connections, if you use Kikubari and your manager has set its birthday scope to include them.
This is the same set the Upcoming Birthdays widget shows, so the widget and the confetti always agree about whose day it is.
Whether you see the celebration is a personal preference, not something your manager sets for the team. Go to Settings → Preferences and untick Celebrate birthdays. It takes effect on your next dashboard visit, and it only affects you: everyone else keeps their own setting.
It’s on by default, so a new account gets the confetti until they decide otherwise.
Curious what it looks like before deciding? On the same Preferences page, click Preview the celebration. It runs the full animation on your dashboard right away, even if you’ve turned the preference off and even if it’s nobody’s birthday.
Family birthdays live in Kikubari profiles, so whether they’re surfaced at all is a manager’s call: Settings → Kikubari → Birthday scope. That setting decides whether family members appear in the Upcoming Birthdays widget, on the insights page, and in the celebration. Employee and contact birthdays are always included; only the family part depends on it.
